Hot Stone Therapy is a style of massage where heated basalt stones are placed at specific sites on your body as well as used in the massage to deepen relaxation and promote circulation in your muscles. Tissue heated with these stones release tension and stress much more deeply and quickly than with a traditional massage. The overall experience is very relaxing, nurturing, and rejuvenating.
Pregnancy Massage is a style of bodywork designed specifically for pregnant women. Pregnancy is a time when a woman's body endures tremendous stress due to dramatic physical and emotional changes. Using various techniques specially developed for the expecting mother, Pregnancy massage helps release the pain and discomfort experienced throughout pregnancy. The benefits are profound, including emotional support, the relief of joint pain due to extra weight and postural imbalance, and improved breathing and relaxation.
Swe-Thai massage is a unique form of massage therapy, combining traditional Thai stretching with a Relaxation (Swedish) Massage. The therapist will be on the table during some of the session, in order to use a greater degree of pressure. Clients say the Swe-Thai massage is like doing yoga without doing any of the work. A single Swe-Thai massage session works with the muscles, bones and joints and will help you release stress and relieve pain, increase your range of motion and help you function more effectively at work and home.
What is Flowtrition? Flowtrition is a gentle touch that allows for the integration of life experiences stored in the body as tension. The gentle light touches encourage the body to look in on itself and to make shifts. Sometimes we are holding a pattern of tension due to an emotional or physical trauma from long ago. Even though it is over and we have moved on, the body may be responding as if it is still occurring because the nervous system was affected deeply. Everything that we experience is communicated to us through the nervous system. The healthier the nervous system, the healthier the communication. Giving the nervous system the opportunity to change is extremely beneficial on a physical and emotional level. In Flowtrition, my goal as a practitioner is not to fix, or change, anyone. We see the perfection of the person and their body, without judgement. The purpose with Flowtrition is to connect through a light touch, and let the nervous system of the body decide what it wants to do next. For many people this can be a shift which leads to symptom relief, but that is not the primary purpose; removal of pain is not always a sign of improved health. What is more important is the body learning to respond in the most appropriate manner to its environment. We are allowing the body the opportunity to make changes from within, which is more empowering than trying to force something to change when it is not ready
BodypatterningSM is a process of identifying the level of tissue (bone, fascial, muscle, visceral and nervous) that is causing restriction or exaggeration of the movements expressed by the Ayervedic Chakra system. This dis-ease in movement creates patterns of stress in the body that manifest symptoms of pain. Bodypatterning uses, but is not limited to, both passive and active assistance to the body by using movement, rocking, fascial pulls, lifts, hand holds, finger pressure points and more to encourage a different pattern of movement to help alleviate pain.
Cupping, which dates to the early fourth century, is one of the oldest methods of treatment in Traditional Chinese Medicine. Massage cupping is performed by applying ‘reverse pressure’ to the body, via glass or plastic suction cups that are generally placed or massaged along problem areas, in the direction of natural lymphatic flow. This service can be booked as an individual service or add-on to a massage to allow extra time. When requested it can also be incorporated into a 60/90/120 minute massage.
Gua Sha is a healing technique that has been commonly used throughout Asia for many years. Gua means to rub or friction. Sha is the term used to describe congestion of blood at the surface of the body. When friction is applied in repeated even strokes, the sha will be drawn to the surface of the skin.
Benefits of Gua Sha include: moving stuck blood, promoting normal circulation to the muscles, tissues, and organs directly beneath the surface treated, decreasing pain and stiffness and increasing mobility.
This service can be booked as an Add-On to a massage to allow extra time or when requested can be incorporated into a 60/90/120 minute massage.
